There’s drama afoot in the X-Men world, and this time, it’s about Sex Men: Wolverine—Marvel’s thicc-clawed, perpetually pissed off superhero—who might be a gay guy (or more accurately, a gay mutant), and fans are big mad.
While there have been some whispers and hints in the nerd network about Wolverine’s (aka Logan’s) sexual orientation for years, Marvel has created a major stir that the X-Men hero is gay or multi-attracted and possibly even in a polyamorous relationship with Cyclops (aka Scott Summers), as insinuated in a scene from the latest issue of the comic, X-Men #7, released on February 26.
In the book, the X-Men are hanging in their retreat on the lunar island of Krakoa, where readers see Logan’s bedroom is attached to Scott’s and Jean Grey’s boudoir via a connecting door, like adjoining hotel rooms. The two have a suggestive exchange about Logan’s body hair—and how it makes it “too scorching for [the] covers” when he sleeps, as Scott says—while gazing into territory. While we were told this day would never come, Hugh Jackman is sticking on his utmost spandex and suiting up (supposedly) one last time to play the iconic character of Logan/ Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds' foul-mouthed Merc with a Mouth joins forces with arguably the most renowned member of Charles Xavier’s gifted youngsters, as Deadpool & Wolverine hopes to claw its way to the uppermost of the box office for this X-rated (well, R-rated) X-Men movie.
Disney has gone hard on marketing Deadpool & Wolverine as the ultimate bromance, but for some, the constant jokes that the pair are “gay” for each other have fallen flat.
As the typically vocal minority claims that “woke” Disney is ruining these testosterone-pumped heroes, it seems they’ve forgotten that the clawed Canadian and DP hooking up on the silver screen wouldn’t be that unusual at all. In proof, both “bros” acquire a rich and colourful LGBTQ+ history on the pages of Marvel comics.
Deadpool’s sexuality is fairly well-known, with co-creator Fabian Nicieza never being shy about Deadpool's pansexuality. In 2015. Nicieza said he’s tired of being “dogged” by these questions for years but reiterated.

By now, those of you who’ve read my previous post would have an idea that i am an avid comic guide reader and i am not ashamed of it. Truth be told, i am quite arrogant of the fact that i have read a lot of comic books. I like staying familiar with the characters i have been reading about for years. A death of a character does have an impact on me if i come about to like him or her. So, you can imagine my surprise when a friend of mine mentioned that Wolverine was gay.
My first reaction to the news was that he was joking. There was no way Marvel had the guts to turn one of the major characters gay. Don’t get me wrong. I am open to the concept of gay characters in comic books, etc. However, let’s face it, it would be a very major change position if Marvel decides to depict Wolverine, one of the main characters of the X-Men and even the Marvel Universe as gay.
Then my friend went on to say that not only is Wolverine gay, he’s also in a relationship with Hercules. I immediately asked for the comic book. When I was browsing my newsfeed this morning, I came across an article that I was pretty sure was clickbait: “The Internet’s Freaking Out Over Marvel Making Wolverine Gay.” Another article that came up was from Vice: “Wolverine Might Be a Sexually Fluid Mutant in a Throuple – Deal with It.”
I did more research, and yeah, Marvel definitely has made some insinuations that Wolverine is gay or bisexual and is possibly in a relationship with Jean Grey and Scott Summers. Also, apparently in an alternate universe Wolverine and Hercules had a thing? I don’t think I interpret that one, but that happened.
While some people are welcoming this change, there’s also a grand group of people who are very opposed to it. A lot of the articles I’ve found are in favor of making Wolverine gay or are applauding Marvel for being “woke”, and I wanted to share a different opinion to voice some of the problems that die-hard comic publication fans experience with Marvel’s changes prefer this one.
