Pride Month and its celebrations are here, and the Queen City is ready to celebrate with events that honor love, culture and unity. The urban area will come alive from June through August with fitness fundraisers, show-stopping performances and the long-awaited Charlotte Pride Festival.
The following is a look at some of the events on hand for the Charlotte people to participate in for Pride Month, and also keep an eye out for later in the summer.

MADabolic NoDa Pride Month Kickoff Class: Noon-1 p.m.
The MADabolic Gym in NoDa will keep a donation classon June 1to send proceeds to the Twirl to the World Foundation, whose mission, according to their website, is to bring relief and joy to the world through social lobbying and hardship assistance to vulnerable members of Charlotte’s LGBTQ+ community since 2009.Tickets can be purchasedonline for $25.

The festival runs Saturday, Aug. 16th, through Sunday, Aug. 17th, with set-up also occurring Friday, Aug. 15th. The march is on Sunday, Aug. 17th. To volunteer, please pick at least one shift of your choice within the departments provided. Here's what to expect at this weekend's 2024 Charlotte Pride
More than 250,000 people are expected in uptown this weekend for the Charlotte Celebration parade and highway festival. The local celebration of LGBTQ visibility has grown exponentially since its humble beginnings at UNC Charlotte advocate in 1981.
Liz Schob, a spokesperson for Charlotte Pride, linked WFAE's Nick de la Canal to talk about what attendees can look for from the pride and festival this year.
Nick de la Canal: Let's open off with a really basic question: Why is Charlotte Pride in August when so many cities hold their celebrations in June, and in truth, Pride Month is June in the U.S.?
Liz Schob: Excellent question, and it's one that we actually get a lot. And there are two answers to that. The first one is Pride is year-round. Pride is 365 days a year. But we perform things a small bit differently here in Charlotte. As you mentioned, we have National Event Month in June. July we contain Charlotte Black Celebration Month, and in August we own Charlotte Pride. So, we get to celebrate it all summer long, which is really exciting.
