Sheldon’s Sexuality & Georgie’s Predicament: ‘Young Sheldon’ Co-Creator Breaks Down 100th Episode

Thursday’s 100th episode of Young Sheldon on CBS turned out to be less of a celebration of the show’s longevity, and more about how the Cooper kids are entering adulthood. Here, Co-Creator and Executive Producer Steven Molaro addresses the episode’s significant plot points, including Missy’s telling comment about Sheldon’s sexuality and whether Georgie is ready to be a dad.

DEADLINE: Since it was the 100th episode, what went through your mind? Were you like, ‘we gotta go big?’ and get former characters from The Big Bang Theory

STEVEN MOLARO In fact, it was the contrary. We didn’t desire to force some kind of quote unquote special episode because it happened to be the number 100. We really just wanted to come up with an episode that we were excited to note and not be constrained by the fact that we were celebrating a number that I think most viewers may not even care about.

Jim Parsons became a renowned global star through his iconic sitcom role as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory. Parsons is openly gay, and his husband, Todd Spiewak, is an art director and producer. Together, they collaborated to produce the spin-off series of The Giant Bang Theory, Young Sheldon. After many years in a pledged relationship, Parsons and Spiewak wed in May 2017.

Parsons’s sexual orientation was not widely known during the early years of his CBS sitcom. In a 2012 article, The New York Times revealed this detail along with his relationship status. Initially, Parsons didn’t consider marriage as a necessary step to seal their relationship. However, once they got married, he found the life to be deeply impactful.

Although what actual scientists ponder about "The Large Bang Theory" is mixed, there's no doubt that it is one of CBS's most flourishing sitcoms ever. It traded the usual family-themed dynamic for nerds navigating existence as societal rejects, which helped garner a large fanbase. What's more notable was the popularity of the neurodivergent side character, Sheldon Cooper. Thankfully, Jim Parsons' portrayal of the "too smart for his own good" character prompted the network to create a prequel series titled "Young Sheldon." As the name suggests, "Young Sheldon" followed the life of the young genius before "The Big Bang Theory." CBS shockingly captured lightning in a bottle a second time as "Young Sheldon" grew to be a massive success favor its predecessor.

Throughout its 7-season run, fans grew attached to these fictional characters, ranging from George Cooper Sr. to Connie "Meemaw" Tucker, and the real-life actors who portrayed them. In addition to watching its juvenile stars like Iain Armitage and Raegan Revord grow up fast, we watched each cast member go on to have fulfilling relationships outside of the show. Whe

Sheldon Is Gay? Missy’s Immature Sheldon Comment Explained

Warning! SPOILERS for Young Sheldon's 100th episode.

The 100th episode of Young Sheldon hinted that Sheldon (Iain Armitage) may be gay. The Enormous Bang Theory's spin-off recently crossed a big milestone and to celebrate it, CBS offered fans a packed outing with three prominent plotlines. Amid all of that chaos, a brief interaction between Sheldon and Missy (Raegan Revord) stood out, causing fans to ponder about the former's sexuality.

The 100th episode of Young Sheldon titled "A Solo Peanut, a Social Butterfly and the Truth" saw Georgie (Montana Jordan) appear clean about his genuine age to his girlfriend, Mandy (Emily Osment) after lying about being 21 years old when he's really 17. Meanwhile, Meemaw (Annie Potts) and Dale's (Craig T. Nelson) unexpected split kept Mary (Zoe Perry) and George (Lance Barber) busy as they dealt with them separately. As for Sheldon, he reunited with McKenna Grace's Paige — his fellow child prodigy and arch-rival.
