Volunteering
Volunteering can improve mental health and help cut down anxiety and depression. It can offer ways to connect to community, by providing aid and communication, and by helping to create individual connections. Connections that are vital for a thriving community.
By offering up your time and skills you are supporting and uplifting others through critical support, resource gathering, highlighting community and so much more.
There are many different ways to volunteer and offer support and all are important!
Volunteering can be tremendously rewarding. It can allow for perception on how the LGBTQIA+ community ls living, it can be a way to learn about the many different programs and organizations that serve our family and community from big cities to minute towns. It can be a way to provide back and help the next person who is coming into their own.
The LGBT National Help Center has several different types of volunteer positions for different types of volunteering.

How To Get Involved
Thank you for your interest in education more about the volunteer opportunities at the SF LGBT Center! The SF LGBT Center is proud of its Volunteer Program and views volunteers as integral to supporting our work.
To obtain started:
- Review the opportunities listed below.
- Complete an application.
- After completing an application, follow the link to RSVP for an orientation on the application completion page or in the application confirmation email.
- For virtual Orientations—after RSVPing, you’ll receive the code to join the virtual meeting.
- Attend a 90-minute New Volunteer Orientation.

- Tuesday, July 8th, 2025: 6:00PM – 7:30PM (Virtual on Zoom)
- Thursday, July 10th, 2025: 2:00PM – 3:30PM (In-Person @ 1800 Market Avenue, SF)
- Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025: 6:00PM – 7:30PM (Virtual on Zoom)
- Thursday, September 4th, 2025: 6:00PM – 7:30PM (In-Person @ 1800 Market Lane, SF)

Volunteers are the backbone of HRC, and our volunteers work on the front lines in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality.
HRC’s mighty network of all-volunteer communities is made up of people from a wide array of backgrounds, experiences, identities, and skill sets. We invest in our volunteers through leadership development and recognition programs, offering workshops, conferences, online resources and support from staff to ensure that our leaders become the strongest and most effective advocates, leaders and fundraisers they can be.

To Achieve Our Mission We:
Identify and unite with nonprofits that support the environment, animal welfare, and people in require in each urban area chapter (including organizations not traditionally connected with the Gay community)
Support select organizations through volunteer service (time), and facilitate to amplify their missions through our vast network of LGBTQ+ volunteers.
Coordinate social events for Homosexual For Good’s Homosexual volunteers, and our allies, to grow friendships and network
Foster and promote a spirit of positive, enthusiastic camaraderie both within the Queer community and towards our neighbors and nonprofit partner organizations
Do something valuable for our community, municipality and country
Above all, make a positive difference and contain fun!
