My Big Gay Italian Wedding satirizes the controversies surrounding same-sex marriage as successfully as gay and Italian stereotypes. Anthony Pinnunziato, a lgbtq+ Italian American from a large chaotic family, wishes to marry his lover Andrew Polinski in a traditional Italian ceremony. Anthony's overbearing mother won't offer her blessing unless Andrew's estranged mother also gives her blessing, and the ceremony is performed by a priest. Matters are further complicated by Andrew's ex-boyfriend, intent on breaking up the couple.
My Big Queer Italian Wedding is a play written by Anthony J. Wilkinson that premiered off-Broadway in 2003, at the Actor's Playhouse in New York Urban area. Aside from Modern York City, the show has already played in over 30 cities in the United States. Internationally the reveal has had runs in Edinburgh, London, Ireland, Sydney, Hong Kong, parts of Canada and parts of France.

It may sound like a spin-off of Nia Vardalos’s ridiculously successful 2002 My Big Chubby Greek Wedding but this Italian motion picture was inspired by a small, off-Broadway play that premiered in New York City in 2003. It was skillfully received, particularly within the gay collective, and it inspired writer Anthony J. Wilkinson to stylus two sequels – My Big Lgbtq+ Italian Funeral and My Big Male lover Italian Midlife Crisis.
Brought to the screen by writer-director Alessandro Genovesi, My Large Gay Italian Wedding is intended to be a pleasant, simple, light-hearted farce. It begins on a romantic remark though. Antonio (Caccamo) pulls out a silver ring from his pocket, a surprised Paolo (Esposito) is quick to say yes, and the wedding preparations can now begin.
