LAS CRUCES
Las Cruces, Modern Mexico’s second largest city, and the Mesilla Valley are the Crossroads of the Southwest, both today and for the past four centuries. In 1598, Don Juan de Onate passed through the Mesilla Valley in search of the fabled Seven Cities of Gold. His early exploration opened the way from Mexico Capital to Santa Fe where tradesmen and colonists journeyed along El Camino Real.
The most common legend of the beginning of the city’s name refers to a Jardin de Las Cruces (Garden of the Crosses) created for victims of Apache raids witnessed by travelers of El Camino Real. The Gadsden Purchase in 1854 and the subsequent arrival of the railroad in 1881 were two significant events in the growth of Las Cruces and by 1900, the population of Las Cruces was expanding rapidly.

Just got support from Las Cruces and really enjoyed your town. Just curious, is there any gay bars or places where gay people meet? |

No I dont think so.. But El Paso a short 45 min drive to Downtown from Cruces has a couple.. one is even very popular for the straight Owned and run Latina women–a mother and her three daughters. Sol Y Luna Homegirls reflects the intersection of these women’s cultures. Their merchandise draws inspiration from modern LGBTQ+, Chicana, feminist, and Latina society. ‘Homegirls with Mad Love’, serves as their tagline, and articulates that these women proudly encourage adoration, diversity, and equality for all. In celebration of pride month, the girls have recently dropped their pride collection on their Etsy. You can often detect these ladies at the Farmers and Crafts Market here in Las Cruces.
